Women’s Conference 2023

Some things are worth repeating!

Still, some things just can’t be repeated!

There was an unusual buzz in the atmosphere in Montego Bay, Jamaica during the period April 20-23 when women from several nations of the world converged for the Caribbean Women’s Conference 2023. If you missed it, you just missed it!

It is difficult to put into words the excitement that caused our hearts to flutter as we moved about and greeted each other, some for the very first time. Our personal spaces were invaded with hugs, outbursts of laughter, expressions of surprise, group photos and selfies.

As we gathered for fellowship and God’s favour, under the theme

“Behind the Mask.”

(Genesis 3:10)

It proved to be a time of refreshing, revealing and returning to the true self.

From the very first service, women began to unmask and allow the Lord of glory to fill their hearts again with all of His power and blessings. As we reached up, He reached down and touched us!

The line-up of service speakers included: Sisters Marcia Clarke (Thursday), Mimose Leconte, Elisha Mark, and Madeline Quiroz de Cordero (Friday). As a result of the preached Word of God, many testimonies emerged. Women exclaimed,

“I will never be the same again” and my mind has been renewed and my life transformed by the power of God.”

One sister shared how she became so drunk in the Spirit, she had to be guided out of the service by other sister-friends. But this is not the end of our experiences.

Another sister expressed,

“I am glad I made every effort to be here, my heart Has been truly blessed and my life renewed.”

Throughout the conference, the atmosphere was charged with prayer and primed with expectancy allowing the Holy Spirit free-course to move as He wished. Bondages were broken and people were set free. Without a doubt, Christ, the Anointed One, was in our midst…

To heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives…to set at liberty them that were bruised.

The women also looked the part of uniformity. For each service we were required to wear a specific colour; white (Thursday), purple (Friday), and gold (Sunday). Accent touches; jewelry, hats, shoes, etc., presented unique character to the high level of fashion and elegance.

All under the visionary leadership of Lady Patricia Charles, Caribbean Women’s Discipleship Ministry Director, there was distinct order and exceptional excellence.

The day-time activities were also just as power-packed as the evening services. April 21, incorporated an evangelistic thrust in the Glendevon area. Ministry teams visited homes and schools to present the gospel of Jesus Christ. There was also a health screening clinic and a clothing giveaway initiative. On this occasion, we all wore an “I AM W.O.M.A.N” t-shirt. And then on the following day we attended workshops.

The workshop sessions were facilitated by Dr. Blanche Burchall (Female Pastors), Dr. Danette Ming (Single and Loving It), and Lady Patricia Charles (Hidden Pain, Panel Discussion) for all English-speaking women. A separate session was held for all Spanish-speaking women.

Real conversations were had during each workshop. Conference delegates attended a workshop of their choice and as appropriated to their needs. Also, young girls from an area orphanage were ministered to and given care- packages. Without question, lives were transformed as active participation was encouraged in each session.

The workshops were capped with a combined session for all delegates under the topic “I Was Not Prepared for This,” led by Lady Vinette Notice. At the end of the day, like a real sisterhood, the women participated in Holy Communion and feet washing, and prayers were offered on behalf of each other. The culmination of the day resulted in exuberant praises and worship to God.

What a time we had in His presence!

And just when we thought we had had our fill of the Holy Spirit, our cups were about to overflow as we advanced to the finale of the conference on Sunday morning. In the prior days, the music ministry was off the chain and Sunday was no different.

The speaker, Lady Charles, presented in demonstrative form eight masks that the church must remove – Disobedience, Delusion, Distraction, Deception, Disappointment, Denial, Doubt, and Disgruntlement.

The message was powerfully impacting and relevant. The altar service allowed for moments of truth as many responded to the call to remove their masks.

We take our hats off and extend huge love and gratitude to the ladies who worked tirelessly in Jamaica, under the direction of Lady Notice. Without their proactive preparations, there may have been noticeable gaps with all that was required to ensure success that was pleasing to God. Everyone who had a part with making sure all was in order, did their part with joy. Thank you also to all of the leading ladies in the Caribbean who not only serve with their spouses, the Administrative Bishops, but who lead women all across the islands. Let’s go back to the beginning…

Some things are worth repeating!

Still, some things just can’t be repeated!

We really wished the conference could have continued for a few more days. It is clear that the experiences cannot be repeated in exactly the same way they occurred. However, we are assured that another – a greater – conference is on the horizon.

If you missed the conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica, you don’t want to miss the next one. We wait with baited breath for the future plans. Keep your ear to the ground for announcements relating to the next conference dates and venue.

Don’t miss it! See you there!
